In March 2011 MUR had a total of 182 members comprising the ulama of Rohingya origin who possessed certificates in Islamic religious studies or Quranic recitation (al-hafidz) from religious institutions in various parts of Myanmar, particularly the Rakhine State.
All membership applications to join MUR must be vetted by the MUR Committee members.
Each member is required to pay an entry fee of RM50.00.
